ROZZI sings of heartbreak and sunnier days in "Joshua Tree"

ROZZI is an artist you might recognize from her stint on an Adam Levine track from The Hunger Games Soundtrack has returned to the music scene with a vulnerable new single called "Joshua Tree."

After opening for Maroon 5, The San Francisco native took a break from performing to find herself. In the process, she fell in love and got her heart broken. And from heartbreak came "Joshua Tree," a pop track grounded by a soulful vocal and stunning guitar. Of the track, ROZZI says:

I wrote ‘Joshua Tree’ a week after my boyfriend and I broke up – it’s about trying to reconcile all the reasons we were together with all the reasons we ended it. It’s the most personal song I've ever written. So we made a personal video. Intimate and simple and full of the little moments you remember after a break up, we tried to just tell the story like the song does.

Sitting on a stage in a dive bar, ROZZI delivers an emotional performance while flashing back to those little moments. Directed by Nick Leopold, the video feels like peering into a life we all recognize.

Rozzi is a promising performer

“If you don’t like break-up songs, this show is not for you,” declared the 26-year-old, Los Angeles-based songstress and USC alumna Rozzi Crane to her adoring audience Tuesday at the Peppermint Club. Singing to a crowd of well-dressed 20-somethings and a grandpa decked in his best Rozzi merch, she played an intimate 45 minute set, filled with acoustic versions of her hits and newer songs.

Rozzi told the audience the story behind each song she performed, giving insight into her life and musical career while creating a bond between her and her listeners through these personal anecdotes. Along with her three-piece band and two back-up singers, she opened the show with one of her new songs “66 Days,” telling the audience she had written the song “exactly 66 days after a break-up.” Rozzi sang the first  verse on her own without musical accompaniment, before the full band entered all at once for the chorus in true rock n’ roll fashion, hyping the audience with its beat and catchy tune.

Rozzi switched up the dynamic of the band as the evening progressed, going from full band, to just her voice and guitar, to her voice with piano and drums, as well as other arrangements. While introducing the band, she explained her guitarist and back-up vocalist were also USC alums, having been with Rozzi since her days at Thornton.

Whether it’s writing about her break-ups, her friends’ break-ups or even writing to uplift others, Rozzi’s songwriting and lyrical ability were obvious in her sold-out show. Many of Rozzi’s songs had a theme of heartbreak in both relationships and the music industry, but, toward the end of her set, she presented a song called “Two Minutes,” a female empowerment track she wrote after the 2016 election. Later in her set, she performed a stripped back cover of Charlie Puth’s “Attention” and performed an unreleased, somber song (which she sang and played on the piano) called “Bad Together,” which she says she started writing while smoking a joint after a bad breakup.

Not only is Rozzi a talented songwriter, but she is also a natural born performer. If she was nervous, no one in the crowd could tell. She looked like she was at complete ease and moved about the stage with poise and confidence. Even when she experienced the expected mess-ups that come with playing live, Rozzi played the incidents off easily. She even acknowledged a mistake on her recent hit “Uphill Battle,” caused by the surreality of watching the audience sing along to her lyrics, which resulted in her joyously restarting the song.

When you watch Rozzi perform, her passion for what she does is clear. Her show was entertaining, and her songs stuck in audiences’ heads long after they left the venue and into the next day. She is talented, impressive and can easily win over a crowd, especially in her ability to relate to her audience. Rozzi’s performance at the Peppermint Club was seamless, showcasing the singer as an exceptional vocalist with promise to reach pop stardom. Her album will be coming out later this year, and you can hear her most recent single, “Never Over You,” and other released tracks on Spotify, iTunes or SoundCloud.

The USC Student Hits The Road With Maroon 5

Rozzi Crane not only has the support of his mentor, Adam Levine of Maroon 5, has been hitting the road with the band and makes your way to the top of the music industry. SheKnows sat down with the 21- year-old to talk about his rise to the top.

If you have not heard the name Rozzi Crane at the moment, do not worry, you will. The 21- year-old musician has a sound fusing soul and currently can be heard on tour with Adam Levine and Maroon 5 . Crane was the first signed to the label of Levine, 222 Records artist, so the future USC student is shining.

SheKnows got the chance to sit down with crane hours before she took the stage for the first time at the Staples Center, a stone's throw from the USC campus, where she is a student at the Thornton School of Music. How can a college student going to sing in small bars at a college arena with about 20,000 seats? The young musician gave us the scoop.

Crane revealed, “Jacques Brautbar, which is in Phantom Planet, was sitting in one of my composition classes at USC He liked my writing, so we started writing together . . .”

It was that fateful meeting at the school, which eventually led to his work being heard by the manager of Maroon 5, who passed along word of the talents of the crane with the judge voice.

"Eventually, Adam heard a YouTube video or something. I'm pretty sure I did a little stalking YouTube and then wanted to make a tag. 's definitely through those guys that all this happened," Crane said.

Out of the orientation of his career Levine, YouTube’s audience continues to support the work of the musician notable cover songs with a touch Rozzi. Their sound is quite mature for someone so young, but with personal influences as "Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse ... Outkast, Tribe Called Quest, "you can definitely see where his inspiration came from. Fans will also notice a little influenced by Maroon 5 on their new EP, too.

She describes her sound fusion for his new EP. “One thing I 'm so happy [is that] the EP sounds like something new, which is exactly what I wanted.’ve Brought all my soul, hip hop influences ... 90 , R & B stuff. And then Adam has this distinct sound that everyone knows and loves and it is this combination that people definitely listen. "

The Maroon 5
lead singer has not only guided his composition, he invited her to tour with the band on their tour sold out. In addition to a performance Staples Center that night, Crane recently hit New York City Madison Square Garden. That's a pretty memorable night for an artist up- and-coming.

She told us: "Madison Square Garden was easily one of the most surreal nights of my life I'm along this walk, which only took me with them it’s kind of this truly magical couple of months for me to reach . . . be a part of something that worked so hard to build . "

She admits that singing part of Christina Aguilera’s hit "Moves Like Jagger " from the band is " very intimidating " but Crane is responsible for this huge increase career with aplomb.

Last summer, Crane had the opportunity to work on a song for the Hunger Games soundtrack with Levine. It was a heady experience for her because the song was written by Oscar- winning composer Glen Hansard and produced by the legendary T Bone Burnett.

Crane did not flinch when working with such luminaries of the music industry. In fact, it was Burnett who really encouraged him in the study. "I think part of its brilliance is what makes you feel good. Makes you feel like you're killing him."

And "killing “"s exactly what I did in the movie song, "Come Away to the Water".

In addition to the soundtrack, the tour and his upcoming EP, look to Crane hit the road in support of his music later this year. She is excited to share their music with all the fans that have joined her from the beginning.

Rozzi Crane – Crazy Ass Bitch Lyrics

Yes , hes got a pretty face

Hes been calling me day , I'll give it a try
Student body , the best in its class, stupid me in the ass
Yes , it is unique
Date of first says, " I love you " , the second time I met her mother
Now leaving all your shit in my place
I was looking through my phone when no one
Zero to sixty guy is crazy

Now you are out of control now baby

I know it is not love, but I cannot get enough

Because when you get down baby,

yes, I know now baby

Should a locked glass with this crazy
ass bitch

This is a crazy ass bitch

He fight outside bar

Reducing the tires of my car , what the hell is the matter

But if we get into a fight , it's all lights

Then he takes me seriously

Third day kept cool , act a fool fourth day

It's a bastard to you brave

God damn lips only , if you want to take

Zero to sixty guy is crazy

Fuck that , you fucked up , a fatal attraction , good luck

How do I react to your love

Cupid shot twice , you cannot duck

Stupid is what stupid does eh

Probably thinking I polish off a drug eh

Probably thinking that I crawled in your workplace

Tweeterin ' when the club eh ?

Just like

Rain on your parade in Seattle

And your mother complains that I'm an idiot

I'm tryna ' put on your UNH (X3 )

My little tadpoles

Swim, swim , well, left stroke, right stroke

I wish we could run away and distance in Rio

Please enter my votes, I will devote

All things that I miss , and then win

No need for your attention

I need you now, I'd go to war

If retaining the papers said

support

Lookin ' in the window to try to see what I could find

I really did not ask what I want , it's your time

All things that I miss , and then win

No need for your attention

All I need is you, now I'm going to war

If the paper said retention

To Know Your Name Lyrics by Rozzi Crane

The precious blood of Jesus Christ redeems
Forgiven I'm alive, restored set free
Your Majesty resides inside of me
Forever I believe, forever I believe
Arrested by Your truth and righteousness
Your grace has overwhelmed my brokenness
Convicted by Your spirit, led by Your word
Your love will never fail, Your love will never fail
To know You gave the world
Your only son for us
To know Your name
To live within the Saviors love
And He took my place
Knowing He'd be crucified
And You loved, You loved
A people undeserving
To know You gave the world
Your only Son for us
To know Your name
To live within the Saviors love
And He took my place
Knowing He'd be crucified
And You loved, You loved
A people undeserving
And I know you gave the world
Your only Son for us
To know Your name
To live within the Saviors love
And He took my place
Knowing He'd be crucified
And You loved, and You loved
A people undeserving
A people undeserving
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Arrested by your truth and righteousness
Your grace has overwhelmed my brokenness
Convicted by Your spirit, led by Your word
Your love will never fail, Your love will never fail
To know You gave the world
Your only Son for us
To know Your name
To live within the Saviors love
And He took my place
Knowing He'd be crucified
And You loved, and You loved
A people undeserving
And I know You gave the world

Rozzi Crane I'll Do Anything Not Love You Song Lyrics

I'll do anything not to love you
Close my eyes till I go blind
Hiding out in a house with no windows
Better off here where you don't go
I'll do anything not to love you

So you think that I'm going crazy
Your hand on my back, your voice in the dark
Even without a light you see through me
I hate to think that you know me
Almost better than I do

And you'll find
I won't want you around
I should push you out
yeah, keep my head down
and miss you
till I just don't anymore
I'll do anything not to love you

And when you stare straight in my eyes
I wanna tell you
Where I've been hiding
I know you're trying to tell me
Better let you in
I'm falling
I can't stay grounded

And you'll find
I won't want you around
I should push you out
yeah, keep my head down
and miss you
till I just don't anymore
I'll do anything not to love you

Just wait a little longer
Wait here, I'll come around some time
Hear me, soon I'll be better
Until then please

Maroon 5 ft. Rozzi Crane Song Come Away To The Water Lyrics

Come Away To The Water by Maroon 5 ft. Rozzi Crane
Come away little loss
Come away to the water
To the ones that are waiting only for you
Come away little loss
Come away to the water
Away from the life that you always knew
We are calling to you
Come away little light
Come away to the darkness
In the shade of the night we'll come looking for you
Come away little light
Come away to the darkness
To the ones appointed to see it through
We are calling for you
We are coming for you

Come away little lamb
Come away to the water
Give yourself so we might live anew
Come away little lamb
Come away to the slaughter
To the ones appointed to see this through
We are calling for you
We are coming for you

Come away little lamb
Come away to the water
To the arms that are waiting only for you
Come away little lamb come away to the slaughter
To the one appointed to see this through
We are calling for you
We are coming for you
We are coming for you
We are coming for you
